Today, we are welcoming to our lab two visiting researchers from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of Chiang Mai University in Thailand to work on agricultural pathogens and genomics in Swansea. Dr. Nattinee (Gift) Kittiwan and Dr. Phacharaporn (Eng) Boonkhot will be with us for a few months. Welcome!

As part of a collaboration with Chiang Mai University in Thailand, Sam Sheppard and Ben Pascoe had the opportunity to recently visit The National Elephant Institute of Thailand at the Thai Elephant Conservation Centre (TECC) in the Lampang Province to discuss with Dr. Taweepoke Angkawanich about infectious diseases in elephants.

Last week, Sam Sheppard was invited to speak at the 8th Meeting of Tuanshan Hill Anti-Emerging Infectious Diseases in Beijing (China) with Professor Maojun Zhang from the Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.
Prof. Sam Sheppard has recently accepted a visiting professorship at Chiang Mai University, Thailand at the Department of Medical Technology, as part of an ongoing effort to expand our collaborations in this country. Sam and Ben Pascoe stayed for a week in Chiang Mai to promote their research and discuss with various Thai faculty members.

Dr. Koji Yahara is leaving Wales after 1 year and 3 months working with us in Swansea. Koji will be taking on a lecturer position at Kurume University in Fukuoka, Japan. Sayonara and good luck!
